Titans U12boys played Bearna in the B finals last Sunday. The teams were so well matched, the game played at such a frenetic pace with both teams playing defence beyond their years. It was a pleasure to watch the gifted ballhanders and shooting guards balancing each other out and the game was essentially about the Bigmens ability to rebound and score from in close. In this topsy turvey game, the Titans trailed by three at the end of the first two quarters, but in the third quarter Matthew Sweeney, Neil Kelly and Shane Conroy put some distance between the sides and Titans led going into the fourth. Bearna came out strong in the last and the Titans played some great defence but couldn’t convert from in close at the offensive end, bearna ran the floor well, pulling back the slender lead and won the game by 19pts-15.
In this season of 2012-2013,The Titans u12 boys had gotten 120 hours of Coaching by four different coaches, had fielded 25 players overall in 15 local league games between their two teams, finished second in the league to Moycullen and played in Tournaments in Sligo, Cork and Limerick. Many have gone on Springcamp to Sweden and are due to travel to Toulouse France for a tournament in May!! Most of the boys are under 12 for next season and again the year after, so we hope they work on their individual game in the off season and continue to attend the skills development camps. Thank you all for a great season and to the parents for your unrivalled commitment!
