IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE NATIONAL SHIELD,JOYCE,MACKIE AND LOUGHEED TITANS GALWAY DEFEAT MAREE IN ORANMORE IN A WONDERFUL TEAM DISPLAY IN FRONT OF A PARTISAN HOME CROWD.

Maree had led for the first two quarters through the efforts of their Bigman Kenneth Hannsbury..but the Titans hung in there with Chris Coyne looking like he was controlling the game and orchestrating attack after attack throughout this epic encounter.Despite the insults and sideshows on display, the Titans focused on the Basketball and the referees meanwhile removed the main Maree protagonist…so that the teams might focus on the on court aspects of the encounter.

It took til the third quarter for the visitors to start building their lead but the tenacious nature of the Maree lads was such that the lead was never secure til the final whistle..The Titans had 4 players in double figures with Tomas Mitkus on 21;Tomz 13;Paulius Pelzius 14 and Chris Coyne on 14 points and a similar number of assists.Final Result-Titans advance to the next round of the National Shield!
