In a Classic Titans-Castleisland battle at Renmore today, the capacity crowd were treated to an exhibition of Team Basketball at its best. The Titans were without the services of their sharpshooting Brendan Barile who recieved a worrying head injury last night in their 115-82, win on the road against Fr.Matthews Cork.Instead the Titans Paulius Pelzius put on a show, accellerating the homeside into a 13-1 lead at the start of the game, however the experienced Castleisland side were up 18 – 17, by the break. In the second quarter,Gintaris and Pelzius showed the way to the basket but the Bigger St.Marys Castleisland lads were proving very hard to stop from 3 feet and it was the visitirs who were up at the half 33-32.
But with 10 Titans having had valuable courttime in the first half and the Kerry boys not able to go deep on the bench, the Titans Coaches Lint and Consodine, knew that they were wearing down this ageing side.In the yhird,Andre Tongo led the charge,Tomz nailed some amazing shots,Taofik and Gintaris mopped up any garbage and kept adding the points and creating space between themselves and thye visitors.Titans led by 12 at the third and getting stronger.
In the fourth,Seamus Garrity tortured his three time nat lge player of the year, nemisis Declan Wall,Chris Mc Inarney and Ronan Mc Keown hit some fine shots, while Alan Barnicle, star of the div 1 Galway league hustled hard and rimmed a couple of tasty efforts.
The day belonged to the Titans ,the game belonged to Paulius Pesaiis and Swingman Andre Tongo who controlled the game throughout. The game ended Castleisland 54 -Titans 80 ( Paulius Pelzius 28;Andre Tongo 14;Tomz Fabricius 11;Ginteras 10 and Taofik Mustaffa 10).
