With Coach Paul Langan on the mend and back at the helm..The Titans U12 Boys maintained their League standing at the Top of the U12 Table going into the Christmas Break in a very exciting and enjoyable game with their Corrib peers.
The first quarter saw Joseph Coughlan hit some exciting Baskets and throw some fine assists to Dean Coughlan and Mark who knew their way to the Basket and show how practice pays off! Dara Mannion grew in stature throughout the game as he and Jude Langan played strong Defence and got their hands to every loose ball against some skilled Corrib lads determined to make a come back..
The second quarter indicated a Corrib resurgence with 6 unanswered points from their fast moving ambidexterous guards. Neil Kelly had to be sprung from the bench to hone up the Defence.Matthew Sweeney led the offensive charge and made some shots under pressure from the Corrib Bigmen. Jude and Ben Kelly set some big Picks and freed up the guards to find the waiting Robert Mc Donald and Brian Cheege under the Basket.
The Titans knew that the third quarter would be competitive and baskets from Robert McNulty and Brian Cheege helped settle the visitors. Ben Kelly was playin a stormer both ends of the court winning rebounds setting screens and scoring some fine baskets.Jude was helping out with good assists and picks and keeping up with the Corrib Bigmen, but the star of this quarter was young Dean Coughlan who caught some amazing fast break passes and finished beautifully.
The last quarter saw Matthew Sweeney take over the game, passing, looking for the Forwards McDonnell and Mark inside, and hitting them with gorgeous passes, when he wasn’t scoring from one of his many incisive drives to the Hole!It needs to be added that Niel Kelly grew as an offensive threat throughout the game also and got his reward with a nice patient shot from the top of the key…good job lads.
Great game lads, Titans 32-Corrib 20.
