Update from The Galway Basketball board-Cups/national Competitions and Coaching Courses 2013

   Hi All, the Galway Area Basketball Board sat last night where a number of items were on the agenda and as a result I would like to share the below with you:
     * COACHING FUNDS – the Coaching Committee of Basketball Ireland have been allocated funds and would like to spend some of that in our area. We would like to get some feedback from the clubs as to what you would like us to run in association with the Coaching Committee. Last year we held an intro to coaching course that was quite successful. However, we would like to know what your needs are in relation to coaching. We will run another intro course if required or maybe a seminar/conference on “Promotion of Coaching and Encouragement to get involved” might be more beneficial…please share with us your thoughts?
    * GABB CUP AND SHIELD FINALS – as already highlighted on the fixtures list the Cup and Shield finals will take place on Wed 10th and Thur 11th in Calasanctius School, Oranmore from 7pm. We will wait to see who is competing in the games before final fixtures can be confirmed – if two teams from the same club are participating we will accommodate them both on the same night. Wayne Redmond has agreed to help with the venue on the night. Thanks!
   * MEDALS PRESENTATION NIGHT – our end of season medals presentation night is provisionally fixed for Tues evening April 16th in The Westwood Hotel Dangan.
    * INTER AREA TEAMS – Following a successful inaugural competition last year, Basketball Ireland will host the inter area competition in the Arena over the May bank Holiday weekend. We would_ like to invite any individual_ (must hold a level 1 coaching cert and registered with BI as a coach)_ to express their interest to coach _the Mens/Womens team. It is a voluntary position but expenses will be covered. The coach can select their own management team and players. The only restriction is that there is a max of 4 per club and the players cannot be registered to play in the Superleague or Div 1. All selected players must be registered with BI to play in the 2012/2013 season.
